Take-back, recycling and EPR

UrjaPod is a Producer under the Battery Waste Management Rules. Every pack we sell, we take back.

Engineering draft. This page states what the system actually does, which is the part we can be certain of. The wording still needs review by counsel before launch.

Our registration

CPCB EPR registration: CPCB/EPR/BATTERY/PENDING. It is printed on every invoice and shown in the footer of every page on this site.

Under the Battery Waste Management Rules 2022 a Producer must collect back the batteries it places on the market and have them recycled by a registered recycler, against annual targets. We treat that as a duty and as a trust signal: a seller who cannot tell you where the pack goes at the end of its life is telling you something.

How to return a pack

Raise a take-back request at support@urjapod.com with the serial number. We arrange collection by a Class 9 carrier — an end-of-life lithium pack is still dangerous goods and must not go in ordinary waste, in a scrap yard, or to an informal recycler.

Collection is free for any pack we sold, anywhere we deliver. Packs from other makers are accepted at our Ahmedabad works, subject to inspection.

What happens next

Cells are sent to a CPCB-registered recycler for material recovery. Enclosures, busbars and BMS boards are separated and recycled through their own streams. You get a certificate of safe disposal with the recycler's registration number on it.

Where a pack has usable capacity left, we will offer to buy it back for second-life duty instead of recycling it, which is better for you and better for the material.

Safety

Never puncture, crush, burn or submerge a lithium pack. Never store a damaged pack indoors or near anything combustible. If a pack has been in a fire or a flood, tell us before we collect it — it changes how it must be packed and carried.
